Suspect being taken away on stretcher
5:56 pm This picture shows the suspected gunman being taken away on a stretcher after he attempted to kill himself.
Vesper Flanagan – also known as Bryce Williams – tried to kill himself while being pursued by police.
He is now in a critical condition in hospital.
Shooting on his Twitter and Facebook acounts
5:51 pm Williams, 41, appeared to have uploaded footage of the shooting on his Twitter and Facebook accounts.
In a 20-second clip shows the shooter approaching reporter Alison Parker before pointing a gun at her.
She is then seen running away as shots are fired.
A series of accusations were also posted on Twitter before the footage was uploaded.
He accused Ms Parker of making racist comments and said Mr Ward had made a report to the station’s HR department about him.
He then chillingly said: “I filmed the shooting see Facebook”. The accounts have since been deleted.
Bryce was at one stage being chased by six police cars but appeared to have posted the footage while under pursuit.
Officials say he shot himself at 11.25am around four-and-a-half hours after the shooting.
‘If he dies he’s taken the coward’s way out’
5:26 pm Understandably feelings are running high at the TV station where both victims worked.
Jeff Marks, general manager at WDBJ7, has just been speaking about the alleged gunman.
He said: “If he dies he took the coward’s way out.”
